Specialty Lenses and Coatings

SPECIALTY LENSES AND COATINGS

POLYCARBONATE LENSES
This is type of lens is recommended on all children, active adults, and people with one functioning eye.  It is an impact resistant lens that does not shatter if the patient falls or gets hit by an object like a ball, stone, racquet or bat.  It comes with a one year warranted scratch resistant coating as well as UV protection.  This type of lens also significantly minimizes the thickness of a highly nearsighted or farsighted pair of glasses, so it is more cosmetically appealing.

HIGH INDEX PLASTIC
This is a special type of lens that also minimizes the thickness of lenses in nearsighted individuals.  It also comes with scratch resistant coating and UV protection.  They are not only lighter in weight and thinner, but also reduce many visual aberrations with high spectacle corrections.

TRANSITION LENSES
This type of lens automatically darkens the lenses when exposed to sunlight, and then lightens again when indoors.  This eliminates the need for a second pair of prescription sunglasses or sunclips over your everyday glasses.  It also comes with UV protection.

SCRATCH RESISTANT COATING
When applied to the lenses, this coating can significantly protect your lenses form scratches and help your lenses last longer.

ULTRAVIOLET PROTECTION
This is a clear coating applied to the lenses to help prevent the sun, or ultraviolet rays (UV), from causing harm to the eye.  UV rays can increase the incidence of cataracts, pterygia, and macular degeneration.

ANTIREFLECTION COATINGS

This is a special coating that can be applied to any type of lens that prevents glare.  Not only do patients see more clearly, but this coating helps reduce eye fatigue induced by computers, poor lighting conditions, and night driving.  The coating removes all distracting reflections and enhances the cosmetic appearance of your glasses.  It also comes with a double sided scratch resistant coating that has an unlimited one year warranty.
